Duane Frank Thomas

Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and Friend, Duane Frank Thomas, departed this mortal existence to return to his Father in Heaven on January 19, 2013.

Duane was welcomed into this world by his parents, Delbert and Rhoda Elizabeth East Thomas in Ogden, Utah on September 8, 1930. He was truly one of God''s "Gentle Giants".

On November 20, 1959, he married Barbara Lucile Brown in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple on May 3, 2008. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Kathryn (Sheldon) Shimizu; Francene (Craig) Bielik and Teresa Guthrie. They were also blessed with seven grandchildren, Stuart (Casi) Shimizu; Kristen (Chris) Turley; Ryan (Candace) Bielik; Wesley Guthrie; Whitney (Taylor) Nelson; Stephanie Guthrie and Megan Shimizu; and one great-grandchild, Treyson Olesen.

After their marriage, Duane and Barbara moved to Plain City where they made their home until his passing. Duane built their family home himself.

Duane was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He spent his working career at the Central Weber Sewer Improvement District, his last position being Maintenance Foreman. He also spent his lifetime working on the family farm in Blossom, a profession he truly loved.

Duane is also survived by one sister, Elizabeth (John) Fleming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Amos and Ethel Brown; brothers, Milton, Gilbert, Joseph, D. Ward, Bob and Roy; and sister, Vera Penrod.

Duane was a happy, easy-going man who dearly loved his family and friends. He will be missed greatly. We are so thankful for having him in our lives and all deeply love him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
