Duella May Kartchner
PLAIN CITY a" Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Duella May Thompson Kartchner, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, and is now with her Heavenly Father.
She was born May 10, 1925 in Kanesville, Utah, a daughter of Charles Henry and Ada Anne Perry Thompson.
On October 5, 1949, Duella married George Dee Kartchner in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and celebrated 50 years of marriage.
She was a devout Christian and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a beautiful, loving, compassionate lady who loved everyone she came in contact with. She always encouraged her family and friends to stay close to our Heavenly Father and to seek the good in everyone and everything. At Grandma''s house there was never a shortage of the spirit, laughter, love, fried eggs, treats on the table and a box of toys to occupy little hands. She had a tiny frail body yet she was a spiritual giant who influenced all she came in contact with. She kept her family close to her and made all of us feel so loved no matter where we were in the world.
She enjoyed sewing and made many colorful quilts. She also enjoyed family gatherings, genealogy, cooking and giving service to others.
Surviving are her husband, George, of Plain City, UT; one son and three daughters, Jay Evan (Sharon) Kartchner, Taylor, UT; Janiel Kartchner (Jerry) Dennis, Vernal, UT; Maurine Kartchner (Bruce) Ferre, Taylor, UT; Sue Ann Kartchner (Kyle) Munk, Plain City, UT; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Ray Darrel Thompson, Sunset, UT; Marcella Anne Thompson, Kanesville, UT.
Preceding Duella in death were her parents, three brothers, four sisters and one grandson, Curtis Aaron Ferre.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. the Plain City Meadows Ward Chapel, 2952 North 4200 West.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Ward Chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
