Duff R. Wakefield

FRUIT HEIGHTS – Duff R. Wakefield, 60, passed away suddenly at home with his eternal companion by his side on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. Duff valiantly battled Kidney cancer the last few months. Duff was born on March 20, 1956 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Robert C. and Marilyn Bingham Wakefield. Duff grew up in Plain City, Utah, and graduated from Weber High School.
On November 9, 1978, Duff married his sweetheart Debbie Dixon in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony.
Duff was currently employed with BMC as Intermountain Division Vice President.
Duff loved painting which he started at a young age. He also enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, camping, going on ATV rides, being outdoors, and especially watching his grandchildren play sports. Some of Duff’s hobbies included visiting old mining towns, cutting and polishing rocks, woodcarving, going on bike rides, gathering pinecones, and going to Grouse Creek making memories. Duff had a love for sports, golfing, basketball, and especially baseball. Duff excelled in everything he did. He will always be remembered as a very hardworking, honest, and giving person who touched many lives. Duff had a special gift, he had a love for people and showed respect for everyone. Duff’s greatest treasure in life was his family.
Duff is survived by his Eternal Companion, Debbie; one daughter, Lacey (Justin) Nicholls, West Haven; two sons, Travis and Gage, Fruit Heights; three grandchildren, Montana, Oakley, and Ruger Nicholls. Duff is also survived by his mother, Marilyn, Plain City; three sisters, Robin (Dean) Anderson, Taylor; Sherry (Jeff) Malan, Eden; and Bobbi Jo (Kendell) Hyer, Plain City. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob”; and his brother, Brad.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Special thanks to his baby sister, “Fin” (Bobbi Jo) for the loving care she gave him the last few months. Duff loved having his own personal nurse.
A special thanks to his loving wife for the exceptional care given during these last few months, Duff could not express enough the gratitude and love he felt for her.
