Dustin “Dusty” Eric Simmons LAYTON - Dusty, 32, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 21, 2008. He was born November 26, 1975 in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Northridge High School in 1994 where he excelled in hockey. He worked many years as a pizza cook for his close friend at a Layton restaurant. Dusty had a large capacity for hard work and had many talents to offer. He had recently started a job in Wyoming as an apprentice electrician. He showed his abilities to work and learn very fast. At this time he had finished drug rehab and was starting a new life. He was very happy and proud of being clean. Dusty was a very loving and kind person with a special kind of magnetism. He collected many wonderful friends in his short life. He had a passion for music and played Bass guitar in a band at one time. He also had lots of fun jamming with friends, but especially with his sister Danielle and brother-in-law CJ. Other passions of his were art and poetry; he did many paintings and wrote poetry including for the high school literary magazine. One of his greatest joys in life were his pet cats. He loved and played with them with such joy and fun. He became very close with his two young nephews, Kyuss and Jace, showing his jovial spirit when he played with them. Dusty left behind his loving family of his mother, Donna Nordello, stepfather, David Nordello, father, Jerry Simmons, stepmother, Kathy Simmons, sisters Danielle Lloyd, Nicole Nordello, brother-in-law CJ Lloyd, nephews Kyuss Lloyd, Jace Lloyd, step-grandma Judy Nordello. Dusty went to meet a girlfriend for vacation in Florida during a break between jobs. At this time he had a relapse and lost his battle against drugs. Our hearts break for him and others who have struggled with addiction. We who have watched his struggle find peace in knowing that now he is free and at peace. Friends and family may call Wednesday, November 26, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Cremation under the direction of Lindquist’s Ogden Crematory.
