Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Dwight Corey Moore, 81, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024. He was born on November 14, 1942, in Nampa, Idaho, the son of William Corey and LaVon Lyons Moore. His father passed away prior to his birth which created many hardships for his family. He always loved and respected his mother, LaVon for how she led their family throughout their lives. His siblings were simply his best friends, and he was the recipient of their love and care. Growing up during difficult times, he learned the valued of hard work and service and it showed throughout his life.
Dwight served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in England, then known as the North British Mission. Prior to and after his mission he attended and then graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and an emphasis on the visually impaired. He later received his Administration Certificate.
He married Marlene Anderson on June 5, 1965, in the Idaho Falls Temple. He was her consummate caretaker and loved her dearly. He also loved her family and was loved by them. They raised three children and enjoyed 59 years together, most of which was in North Ogden, Utah.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Education was important to Dwight; he worked as the Administration with the Utah Schools for the Blind. He took pride in teaching math & sciences as well as running a woodworking shop for his students. Dwight truly loved his students and coworkers there and continued relationships with many through the years. In his retirement years, he especially enjoyed monthly luncheons with his USDB friends at the Ogden Pizzeria. He was a President of the Ogden-Weber Utah Education Association, and as a lifetime member of the National Education Association.
One of Dwight’s favorite hobbies was his construction and side work, he shared this talent with many. Often with his kids in tow, they were at his side learning many life skills and the value of hard work. His famous toffee is known by many family, friends, neighbors and ward members. He loved helping his grandchildren with their various projects and took great pride in their successes and accomplishments. Above all, Dwight valued spending time with his family. We love you and will miss you! Until we meet again.
Dwight is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; children, Eric (Melanie) Moore, Katrina Moore, and Craig (Karianne) Moore, 13 grandchildren, and 7 1/2 great-grandchildren and siblings, Keith Moore, Cerita Hewitt, and Sharon Smith along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
