Earl C. Cevering passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 23, 1929 in Ogden, Utah to John and Susanna Cevering.
Earl met his sweetheart, Leah Mae Ericson at the Berthana Ballroom and on October 26, 1951, Earl and Leah were married in Plain City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Earl was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings including two Bishoprics, High Priest Group Leadership and he was an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple for six years.
Earl loved his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved working in his garage and he enjoyed camping and fishing.
He was a machinist for the Railroad for 30 years retiring in 1978. He was co-owner of Johnson Lock Shop for 33 years retiring in 1994.
Earl is survived by two sons, Rodney (Cathy) Cevering, Logan; Robert Cevering, West Haven; two daughters, Linda (Blake) Conger, Clearfield; LeAnn (Steve) Conger, Syracuse; 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, his parents, a granddaughter, Melissa Conger and a great-grandson Stockton Huot, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Municipal Park Ward Chapel, 5930 South 2200 West, Roy. The family will meet with friends Tuesday, March 15th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
