DR. EARL F. HANSON
1931-2016
Dr. Earl F. Hanson, age 85, of Geneva passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Autumn Leaves of St. Charles with his family by his side.
He was born October 15, 1931 in Utah, the son of Earl F. and Emma (Ford) Hanson.
Earl proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He received his BA and Master’s degrees from the University of Utah and a PhD from the University of Chicago. Earl worked as a Children’s Literature professor at Northern Illinois University for 30 years. He lectured all over the United States and took students on reading and children’s literature trips to Europe. Earl loved to read and write, he wrote two books and many articles. His greatest pastime, however, was spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Patricia (Lloyd); sons Craig (Johanna) of Wasco and James (Debra) of Genoa; grandchildren Haley, Caleb, and Logan; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard.
A funeral service for Earl will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 0N429 Old Kirk Road, Geneva conducted by Bishop K.C. Brown.
Interment will be Tuesday, November 15th at the Centerville City Cemetery, Centerville Utah.
