Earl G. Hoff
Earl Gordon Hoff, 79, passed away Tuesday February 12, 2008, at his daughter’s home in Centerville, Utah.
He was born September 25, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Clarence Walter and Ada Almeda Hayes Hoff. Married Linda Anne Phelps on August 30, 1952.
Earl received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in petroleum engineering and was a pioneer in geothermal energy technology. President of Walker Wellheads; employed by American Industries, U.V. Industries, Zinc Corp. of America and Phillips Petroleum. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
He was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in a Stake Presidency, Bishopric and as a temple worker. He was an avid genealogist and wrote an extensive personal history and daily journals spanning 31 years. He enjoyed traveling to visit family. His musical pursuits included playing the harmonica and ukulele, whistling, and singing Happy Birthday on the phone to his kids.
Survived by his wife Linda; children Lisa (Mark) Purdie, Patricia (Steven) Meredith, James (Jalair) Hoff, Carolyn (Kurt) Johnson, and Jonathan (Rebekah) Hoff; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by a sister Margo Hoff. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kathleen Hoff, five brothers and one sister.
Private funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery. Funeral directors Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
