Earl George Jones, 88, hastened to the loving embrace of our Savior this daybreak, Friday, June 29, 2012. Comforted in his home, surrounded by his family and kissed by the love of his life, his beautiful Marjorie, Earl embarked on his new mission.

He entered this life on December 1, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The wings of dawn unfolded its light as he began a journey that touched countless lives and enhanced every soul he met. Little did Raymond George Jones and Pearl Lorraine Flint Jones, his parents, realize the gift they had provided so many that cold December day.

He spent his boyhood in the Rose Park area where he attended Onequa Elementary, Jackson Junior High, and graduated from West High and West High Seminary. He was West High''s All-City fullback..

He followed his father''s vocation and began work at Bennett''s Paint & Glass. He worked at Sweet''s Candy and at Arza Hinckley''s ranch which he claimed to be his saving grace. He later became employed at Mountain Fuel, the Y.M.C.A in Salt Lake, and finalized his work years as curator at the University of Utah Physics Department. Then, he spent the remainder of his life working for the Lord.

He served his country valiantly during World War II in the Philippines as Petty Officer Third Class in the U.S. Navy.

Earl truly partook of the Tree of Life. He constantly served the Lord in numerous assignments to include seminary teacher, Bishop, Stake Mission President, several Stake High Councils, assistant to four presidents of the Salt Lake Temple, and a Sealer in both Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples uniting many families forever

He cherished his family and the miracle of his life, Marjorie. They were two hearts beating as one, and two souls single in purpose. He adored his six children; Christine (deceased ), Douglas Jones (Linda), Marlene Moyes (Michael), Debbie Knecht (Steve), Carol Jones Rindlisbacher, and Elaine Sargent (Austin). He deeply loves his 26 grandchildren and 68 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held in his honor on Sunday, July 1, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Lindquist Mortuary located on 727 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah. The funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the Centerville 19th Ward located on 890 South 400 East, Centerville, Utah. Friends may visit the family prior to the funeral from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Interment: Bountiful City Cemetery

The family wishes to extend special gratitude for the compassionate care rendered by the staff of Inspiration Hospice and Lakeview Hospital, and the faithful and wonderful members of the Centerville 19th Ward who have helped more than words can possibly describe a€" thank you to all of you!
