Earl F. Wheeler, a wonderful  husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.

He was born on October 27, 1923 in Ogden to Earl R. and Fern Wilson Wheeler.  He grew up in Ogden, a town he loved and terrorized in his 1927 Chevy.  He could throw gravel on every ones lawns with his car.  He loved the mountains, canyons, Pineview, and his dogs.  He attended Ogden High where he met Andrea Smith, graduating in 1941.

Earl and Andrea married on June 4, 1943.  He joined the Army Air Corps and was a navigator on B-25s.  He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 35 years working in many different positions.  He spent 35 years in the Bountiful Jeep Posse.  After retirement, he and Andrea spent the next 25 years traveling and spending the winters in Puerto Penasco, Mexico.

After her death in 2000, he moved his winter home to Wellton, Arizona.

Earl is survived by his son, Chuck (Susan) Wheeler of Layton; three grandchildren, Jodi (Trent) Fusselman of Syracuse; Jami (Patrick) McFarland of West Haven, and Jon (Amy) Wheeler of Marana, Arizona.  He adored his eight great-grandchildren, Madison, Tyson, Marina, Riley, Will, Andy, Kelcee, and Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, parents, and two sisters.

Brief Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Roy Hope Center, 5051 South 1900 West, Roy.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

The family would like to thank the staff at Peach Tree Assisted Living Center for their compassionate care, and Dave for being such a good friend.
