WEST POINT a" Earnest Walter Hansen, 67, passed away September 23, 2010 of a sudden heart attack.
He was born on March 15, 1943 in Warren, Utah to Walter Wayment and Myrtle Thompson Hansen. He grew up on a farm and lived in Warren.
Earnest graduated from Weber High and served a mission in the North Central States for the LDS Church in 1962. He also served in the Army Reserves. He retired after 35 years as a civilian sheet metal worker at Hill AFB.
He married Kathleen Booth in the Salt Lake Temple on May 5, 1967. They had eight children, Troy (Tanya), DeLayne (Jodi), Corby (Jennifer), Jaren (Cindy), HyLee (Natalie), VaLynn (Ronald Jr.) Hubbard, Nathan (Tina) and Janalee (Jeremy) Hubbard and 28 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, David and Wesley and his sisters, Myrelda Taylor and Shanna Thompson.
Earnest was always willing to help with the needs of his family and others and he will be remembered for his kind acts and giving heart. He served in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and was currently a temple ordinance worker at the Ogden Temple, which he loved.
He enjoyed working on cars, gardening and a full plate of food.
Earnest was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Rhea Johnson and Anna Marie Hansen.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the West Point 6th Ward Chapel, 3488 South 300 North.
A viewing will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, and Tuesday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church.
