Earven Q. “Kirby” Allred

Earven Q. “Kirby” Allred passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 13, 2016. He was born on October 30, 1928 in Hayden, Utah in Duchesne County. He was the youngest of the 15 children of George Q. Cannon and Mary Elmer Allred.
Kirby was schooled in Duchesne, Davis, and Weber County Schools. He left Davis High School to join the Navy in the last years of World War II and later graduated from Bonneville High School and attended Weber State College. He worked at various jobs in the Ogden area retired from Hill Air Force Base after more than 30 years of service.
While at Hill AFB, he met and then married the love of his life, Marian Shinney. They celebrated sixty-three years of marriage this year. They are the parents of two children. Kirby had many friends and loved to golf, fish, and tell jokes to anyone who will listen. He was a kind man and was always looking for ways to help and serve his family and friends. He shoveled snow and took in garbage cans for neighbors even when he could have and sometimes should have easily waited for someone else to do it.
Earven is survived by his wife, Marian; and his children, Keith Allred, and Carol (Richard) Watson, his grandchildren, Jonathan and Allison Allred, and Andy and Bret Watson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
