Eddy Lynn Shaw

Eddy Lynn Shaw (Papa) of Kaysville, Utah passed away peacefully on December 17, 2017 surrounded by family.  He faced the challenges of the last five years with the courage and strength that defined his character.  He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Eddy was born In Ogden, Utah on August 11, 1937 to Lawrence Edmund and Elizabeth Lindsay Shaw.  He was the fourth of six sons.  He graduated from Weber High School in 1955 where he excelled in track and played football.  He met his sweetheart Ilene Stark at Camp Lamondi.  They were married on February 1, 1957 in South Weber, Utah.  They were sealed in the Logan LDS temple on March 26, 1958.  They were the parents of three children.  They had a loving and happy marriage and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past year.

Eddy owned and operated Eddy L. Shaw Construction for 44 years.  He was known throughout the industry for good, honest work.  He could operate and repair all types of construction machinery, winning the 1965 Western States Backhoe Operating Contest and competing in the national competition.

Eddy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served in two Bishoprics and accepted many more callings.  His testimony of Christ never wavered and it was his faith in Christ that helped him accept the challenges of life.

His favorite pastimes included golf, travel, and family time.  He was an excellent golfer and had two holes in one.  He won a gold medal for golf in the Huntsman Senior Games.  He was a member of Oakridge Country Club and Bloomington Country Club.  He loved to go off-roading and was known for blazing his own trails.

Eddy is survived by his wife Ilene, his children Sandra (Rodney) Frew, Wade (Mary Lou) Shaw, and Lisa Bell.  He is also survived by seven grandsons and two granddaughters, and he had a special relationship with each one of them.  He has fourteen great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brothers Claire J., Dean B. (Rhonda), Don C. (Margo), Carlyle (Terry), and Robert L. (Kathy).  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters-in-law; Alice Shaw and Jacqueline Shaw, and a son-in-law Brian Bell.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, Utah.
