Ninety Four years ago in Cariagara, Leyte Philippines our husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa was born to Restituto and Armida Trani Anopol. Ed passed away quietly at home November 24, 2018, surrounded by his wife of 65 years, Sheila P.M. Collinson Anopol and family.
What a great man we were blessed with, that lead by example with his work ethic and honesty. He loved his family and took great pride in his Filipino heritage. He enjoyed making trips to his homeland visiting friends and relatives.
Technical Sergeant Edilberto Anopol gave faithful and conscientious service to his country in World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945. He reenlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950, and served in England, Philippines, New Mexico, and Michigan. Ed retired at Hill Air Force Base, Utah in 1968. He bought his first home in Layton, UT where he lived and raised his family.
During his military service he was awarded and decorated with the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Good conduct Medal with 4 Bronze Loops, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupational Medal, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, Air Force Longevity Service Medal with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
After retirement Ed became a Master Barber and proved to be a successful business owner as he established, owned and operated Ed’s Barber & Style Shop in Roy, UT for over 20 years. Leading and providing for his family was his priority and an attribute we recognize and are so very grateful for.
He is survived by his loving wife Sheila P.M. Collinson Anopol, and six children, Rosaleen (Mike) Welch, Helen (Marvin) Jensen, Andrew Anopol, Allan (Beth) Anopol, Edward Anopol, and Maria (Dave) Smuin. Ed and Sheila have 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Joshua Welch.
