Edison Harold O’Dell

1938 -2016

Edison passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.  Edison “Eddie” O’Dell was born on February 16, 1938 to Cecil June O’Dell (Spratt) and Jesse O’Dell in Van West, Virginia. He has a brother Gregory “Cracky" O’Dell and a sister Libby Sue O’Dell (Alford),

Edison joined the Air-Force in 1956. Where he met and married Gladyce Mae Dunn on June 14, 1957.  Together they had four children, Robert Wayne O’Dell, Kieth Gregory O’Dell, Danette Leigh O’Dell (Stewart), and Dwayne Brett O’Dell.

Edison was an Electrician and worked for JLL; and prior to that Westinghouse Electric Company at the Western Zirconium Plant where he was known to most as “Digger”.

Edison was a great Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he loved and adored his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, he was a friend to everyone, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Edison leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Gladyce O’Dell; children, Kieth O’Dell, Danette Stewart (Darrell), and Dwayne O’Dell (Tracie); his brother, Gregory O’Dell (Glenda), his sister, Libby Sue Alford (Clayton); 14 grandkids, and 12 great-grandkids.

Edison was preceded in death by both parents, Mama June and Papa Jess and oldest son, Robert Wayne O’Dell

At his request he will be cremated and there will be a Celebration of his Life on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up at America First Credit Union in the name of Edison O’Dell Memorial.
