Edith Marlene Knowlton

Edith Marlene Coley Knowlton from Layton, Utah, passed away on Monday, 5th 2018 at 82 years old. Marlene, the youngest of four children, was born in Logan, Utah on March 30, 1935 to Edith Dagmar Cammack Coley and Wilford Herbert Coley. She graduated Logan High School in 1952 and attended Weber State College for two years.
On Sept 8th 1955, Marlene married Richard Whitesides Knowlton in the Salt Lake City Temple. Marlene welcomed three sons into the world, Michael Richard, age 60 (Jerri), Stuart Carey age 58 (Ruth), and Joseph James, age 53.
Marlene had nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served as Primary teacher, Primary Secretary, Sunday School Secretary, and visiting teacher.
Marlene was employed as a cook by the Davis County School District for 17 years. She enjoyed needlework and crochet and sharing her talents with her family. She loved the campiness of old monster movies and the effervescences of Lawrence Welk, but one of the her greatest joys was spending time with her young grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her parents Edith and Wilford, her two sisters Afton (Joe) Cooper, Shirley (Dean) Gittens, one brother Raymond Coley and daughter-in-law Jerri Knowlton.
Funeral services will be held February 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Interment, Logan City Cemetery.
