Edna Rex Bateman
CLEARFIELD - Edna Rex Bateman, 84, passed away Friday, December 28, 2007 at Legacy House in South Ogden, Utah, of causes incident to age.
Edna was born March 14, 1923 the daughter of John Oseland and Edna Josephine Brown Rex, in Randolph, Utah where she spent her childhood. She also lived in Sunset, Roy, Clearfield and Clinton. Edna married Gleelyn James Bateman on October 8, 1942 in Buckley, WA. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 4, 1963.
Edna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served faithfully in several callings.
She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She volunteered at the Clearfield Seniors Center, and she worked at Sperry/Univac for many years.
Hobbies included camping and gardening. She especially loved spending time with her family and creating special cakes for their birthdays.
Edna is survived by her children; sons, Bryon R. (Peggy), South Weber; Gleelyn (Marcia), Syracuse; daughters, Lynette (Larry) Elliott, Farmington; and Marilyn Hendry, Roy; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, two grandsons, parents, brothers and sisters; her special dog and best friend ‘Olga.’
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 31, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends and family may call from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
