Edna Benson Sparrow

Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother OGDEN - Edna Benson Sparrow, 65, passed away on October 12, 2013 at McKay Dee Hospital. She was born in Ogden on February 11, 1948, a daughter to Fred and Ruth Dickamore Benson. After her father passed away, her mother married Thomas Templeman, who became like a second father to her. Edna was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. She married Blaine Peterson Sparrow on February 11, 1974; together they raised three children, Layne, Wayde, and Monica. One of only three women accepted to Weber State College in the Electrician Training Program for Hill Air Force Base, Edna graduated and worked at HAFB for 25 years. At the time, she was one of the few women in this field, where she proved herself to be an equal to her co-workers. She loved working in her garden at her Ogden home and took great pride in her yard. She loved to treasure hunt for useful items in unusual places. Edna was a wonderful cook, but was best known for her sweet tooth and quick wit. She was always known to have a bag of candy in her purse and a quick single finger gesture for any who crossed her path. She had a passion for dogs and loved her animals as much as her children. Edna will be laid to rest with the cremains of ten dogs who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Blaine; children Layne (Kim), Wayde, and Monica (exhusband Justin) Williams. Eight grandchildren: Brooke, Halston, Conley, Hunter, Cody, Bridger, Melissa, and Randy. And her brother Edward ?Benny? Benson, three great-grandchildren. Also by her nieces, Brenda and Becky and their families, and Lloyd Haven, and three dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Emma Haven; sister, Christine Olsen; and her sister-in-law, Sharon Benson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 11 am at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family at the mortuary on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm and on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
