Edris Clara Jensen Whipple
Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Edris Clara Jensen Whipple, 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019.
She was born on July 20, 1939 in Brigham City, Utah, a daughter of Ervin H and Zula Reine Perry Jensen on their one year anniversary. She grew up mostly in Willard in a house built by her dad with the exception of a short time when they lived in Venice, California. In Willard she lived in between her grandmother and her aunt. She grew up very close to her cousins and aunts. She graduated valedictorian of Seminary at Box Elder High School. She married Moroni Delbert Johnson in the Salt Lake Temple and later divorced. She later married Leon Foster Whipple. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2002.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in various callings including Sunday school teacher and Sunday school secretary. She enjoyed working on her family history. Edris worked for over 26 years at Hill Air Force Base where she started as a clerk typist and finished her career serving on the inspector general team for material management. Edris had a fight for life. In 2002 she was diagnosed with colon cancer which she valiantly fought to become cancer free. Edris loved to travel, garden and collect, especially glass.
Surviving are her two children, Mitchel (Diane) Johnson, Kaysville, UT and Darla Murphy, Bountiful, UT; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters Nancy ( Keith) Winn, Brigham City, UT; Christine Wagner, Peoria, AZ and one brother Darrell (Debbie) Jensen, Lehi, UT. She was preceded in death by her sister Janet Marie Jackson, her husband’s Moroni Delbert Johnson and Leon F. Whipple and her parents Ervin and Zula Jensen.
We would like to thank all those who served and cared for her at the South Davis Community Hospital.
