Edward Dayton

October 22, 1938 — September 11, 2018

Edward Allen Dayton, 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 11, 2018. He was born in Renovo, PA.

Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte Ann and four children: Carrie (Gordon) Randolph, Tammy DeRossett, Terre (Brian) Knight, Edward (Stacey) Dayton; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sisters Rose Ann Aber, and Jeannie Wertz; and friends all over the U.S. and Europe.

Ed served his country in the US Air Force 26 years; was a Purple Heart recipient during the Vietnam War as well as other medals awarded during his career. As the Air Force moved the family, at the Plan of God, he served both his country and our Lord. While stationed in the United States he served in the churches close to the Air Force Base as a Deacon, interim Pastor as needed and other positions. While stationed in Turkey he served as the Pastor of the Baptist Fellowship meeting at the base Chapel (appointed by the Southern Baptist Chaplaincy).

After retirement he attended Weber State University and received his degree in Social Work. He continued to work in Law Enforcement and Real Estate until he opened his dream – Back Country Fly and Tackle shop. After they retired Ed and Ann served with the International Mission Board for two years in Lithuania and Poland. They were preparing to return to the Czech Republic when the Agent Orange from Vietnam caught up with him. From 2007 to 2017 the man who was seldom sick had a 6 by-pass (heart) and 3 meningiomas removed from his brain.

Because of Ann’s health problems they moved to Mesquite, NV in 2016. After Ed’s 2017 operation he was welcomed into the VA Veterans Home in Ivins, UT where he received wonderful care until his passing.

The family’s profound thanks go out to all the staff at the Home. Words cannot express our thanks for the wonderful care he received there!
