Edward F. Dow (Grandpa)
Clearfield, UT - Edward Frone Dow, 83, passed away January 30, 2014 at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield, UT.
He was born June 18, 1930 in Los Angeles, California.
Married to the late Kristin Dow/marriage was sealed in the Los Angeles, CA Temple.
Edward enlisted in the United States Navy in 1948. He provided 20 years of outstanding service retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1968. During his service, he received many ribbons and medals including the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the China Service Medal. He also received his bronze star.
After retiring from the military, Ed worked for FMC Corp and Pacific Power and Light Jim Bridger Power Plant where he retired.
Edward was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. With his military service he was stationed in several foreign countries. Upon his retirement from the military he lived in Provo, UT; Green River and Rock Springs, WY; Sierra Vista, AZ and Clearfield, UT.
He was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a member of the Fleet Reserve.
He is survived by his four sons: Donald Dow (Mitsy) of Clearfield, UT; William Dow (Amy) of Willard, UT; John Dow of West Point, UT; Thomas Dow (Mary) of West Point, UT; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother; wife, Kristin and daughter-in-law, Jana.
Edward enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing and camping with his sons, golfing and fixing up cars.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 Camp Williams Road in Bluffdale, UT.
