HOOPER a€" Edward Greiner, 71, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, January 24, 2013.

He was born May 17, 1941 in Ogden, Utah the son of Edward B. and Florence Hawkins Greiner.

He graduated from Ogden High School in 1959. On September 25, 1964 he married Sherrie McFerson. They had two daughters, Jenny and Colette.

Ed was employed at IRS and later HAFB. He was a Roy City volunteer Fire Fighter. He also served in the Army Reserves and later the U.S. Air Force Reserves where he retired as Chief Master Sergeant. After retirement he went to work part-time for Roy City as a Crossing Guard and later became Crossing Guard Coordinator.

He was a member of the Stags car club. Dad''s life revolved around horses. He was a member of the Weber County Sherriff''s Mounted Posse. Ed loved supporting his girls in Jr. Posse, High School Rodeo and NBHA for many years and was known as the "3rd Barrel Man" for NBHA. He enjoyed camping and was a life-long member of Good Sam RV Club. He also enjoyed golfing with his family and friends. Ed had a passion for bagpipe music and was a member of the Galloway Highlanders with his daughter Jenny.

Ed is survived by his wife Sherrie, daughters, Jenny Greiner, Hooper; Colette (Bryan) Crase, his grandson Daxton Crase, West Haven; sister Donna (Thomas) Shevlin, Peru, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Norene McFerson, West Haven.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Janet Cologna.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

We would like to thank the many doctors and nurses for the treatment and care they provided.

You fought a valiant fight and you will forever be in our hearts and deeply missed.
