After a long battle with Alzheimer''s Disease our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Edward Ecklund Hoerman, peacefully answered his Father''s call to "Come home my precious son" on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his home surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born August 16, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to Edward J. and Ruth Ecklund Hoerman.
Ed married the love of his life, Cherie Spencer and became her eternal companion on June 2, 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ed and Cherie raised their three children, David, Lori and Lynette, who were lucky to have been born to such a wonderful family.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served a mission to Minnesota.
Ed served in the U.S. Air Force and was proud to have piloted a C-124, C-130, B-52 and his favorite, KC-135. He volunteered at Hill Aerospace Museum for 14 years as a guide. Dad you have taught us so many things, love and dedication to family above everything else, the love of our country and the true meaning of love, compassion and putting others before yourself. Dad loved his Pepsi Cola, Oreos, ice cream and most of all his KC-135. Thank you for your never ending love and teachings. You have taught us how to live and prepared us to all be together again. What a legacy you leave behind.
Ed is survived by his wife, Cherie, their children, David (Jenni) Hoerman, Lori (Mark) Opheikens, Lynette (Navor) Bustos, 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, brother, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
The family expresses special thanks for the full time love and care provided by son-in-law, Navor Bustos, and thanks to Alpine Hospice for the support and care provided to Ed during this last month.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 30th at 10 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
The family will meet friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
