Edward Eugene Isler
CLINTON a" Edward Eugene Isler passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the age of 87. He will be very much missed.
Born to Otto and Caroline Isler, he grew up in southern Minnesota. He joined the Navy in 1943, where he served as an Electrician''s Mate on LSTs and LCTs. He was in the second wave on a Landing Craft for Tanks in the Normandy invasion on Utah Beach during World War II on D-Day. Ed served for three and a half years and was honorably discharged in 1946. He met Jean Snyder in Pennsylvania and liked to say he fell in love with her through her letters while he was in the Navy. They married and spent 66 happy years together.
He was first and foremost a loving father and husband. Ed worked in Civil Service for many years as an Electrician, Electrical Maintenance Scheduler and Foreman. He was a long standing member of the Free Masons and Scottish Rite. His other interests included lapidary (faceting stones), camping with family and friends, traveling around the country, and square dancing for many years. Ed served as president of the Ogden Ostomy Assn. and volunteered with Jean at Clearfield Senior Center for over 18 years. He served on numerous boards in Clearfield Community Church and designed and made 12 of the church building''s stained glass windows.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jean and is survived by his daughters: Celestine (Dewayne) Wolfe and Christine (Robert) Rebmann; three grandsons: Robert (Nicole) Rebmann Jr. and Jacob (Nancy) Rebmann, and Ayton (Amy) Wolfe-Hart; one granddaughter Sandy (Adam) Stack; six great-grandchildren: Brandi and Kyle Rebmann, Jaycee Nall and Cody Rebmann, and Jacob and Ryan Stack.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Aaron''s Mortuary, 1050 So. State Street, Clearfield.
Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
