Edward LeRoy Nielsen, “Mr. Ed”, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in American Fork.

He was born December 1, 1926 in Orem, Utah, to Ornal and Luella Reid Nielsen.

On January 12, 1948, Ed married VerNell Cook in Salt Lake City; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.

He worked for the W.W. Clyde family and later Geneva Rock as a plant engineer for over 40 years. He had a great work ethic and loved working in his garage.

Ed is survived by his wife of 66 years, VerNell; children: Lon, Lori (Charles), Brian (Julie), James (Lisa), Raquel (Sean); 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Roberta and Colleen; and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Saundra; and 6 siblings.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Garden 5th Ward, 725 North 600 West, Pleasant Grove. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, and Thursday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
