Edward Keith Toponce

E. Keith Toponce, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2014.  He was born in Ogden, Utah on June 16, 1924, the son of Rufus Cullen and Zella Jones Toponce. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1942.  After graduating he joined the Marines and served his country during World War II.

He married Reba LaRue Hart on December 30, 1944 in Ogden, Utah.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Keith retired from Hill Air Force Base where he worked as a drafter.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully as Ward Clerk, High Priest Group Leader, Elder’s Quorum President, an Ogden Temple Worker, and at the Ogden Family History Center.

He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers.  He enjoyed being a square dance teacher and caller.  Keith and LaRue loved to travel in their RV together, attending their grandchildren’s activities, and working on family history.

Keith is survived by his wife, R. LaRue Toponce, Syracuse; son, Kent (Helen) Toponce, Riverdale; daughter, Cathy (Phillip) Cook, Syracuse; daughter-in-law, Maria Toponce, Washington Terrace; ten grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and brother, Dennis (Judy) Toponce.

He was preceded in death by his son, Viron Toponce; baby daughter, Carla Toponce; parents, sister Faye and brother Ralph.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
