After a long earthly separation, Edwin Goble 84, was reunited with his sweetheart on August 1, 2024.
He was born on September 21, 1939, to Alvin M. and Sadie Swasey Goble in Nephi, Utah. Edwin’s childhood had humble origins in Mona and Nephi, always in view of his “Majestic Mount Nebo.”
Edwin married Julie Seal on January 27, 1967, in Mapleton, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti, Utah Temple on January 30, 1971. Together they raised one daughter, Michelle, in West Point, Utah.
Edwin attended Juab High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served our country for more than 10 years. Upon his return, he worked at Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 38 years of federal service in 1995. While balancing family life and working full-time, he attended Weber State and received his bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Edwin and Julie loved to travel together. He traveled to all 50 states, but he only counted it as 49 because Julie was not with him in Arkansas (they selflessly donated their plane tickets to Little Rock as aid could reach those affected by Hurricane Katrina). The two of them went on numerous cruises and toured many countries throughout Europe and Asia.
Edwin enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He spent countless hours maintaining his beautiful flowers and prolific garden, even earning his master gardener certificate through the USU extension service.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Michelle; three grandchildren, Sadie, Reed, and Rachel; his sisters, Carol (Gary) Robets, Juanita Takeda, (Bob, deceased), Susan Okerlund (Elvin, deceased); brother William Goble (Marilyn, deceased); brother-in-law Robert (Cindy) Seal, and sister-in-law Gayle Seal Blanchette.
He is preceded in death by his eternal sweetheart, Julie; parents Alvin M. and Sadie Goble; brothers Don and Gordon; Julies parents, Dr. Glenn and Zelma “Teddy” Seal; and brother-in-law Herbert Glenn (Gee) Seal.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the West Point 9th Ward Chapel, 4383 West 300 North, West Point UT. With a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30. Interment will be at West Point City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
The family would like to thank his nurse, Melanie Hackmeister, for all the loving care she gave Edwin over the last couple of years.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Utah Honor Flight program or your local animal shelter.
