Edwin Rice Sjostrom, 62, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at McKay-Dee Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born February 17, 1948 in Lewiston, Utah to Edwin H. and Virginia Rice Sjostrom. He graduated from Sky View High School in 1966.

He married Gaylynn London and they later divorced.

Ed joined the US Navy in 1967 and served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. After returning, he worked at Hill Air Force Base as a fireman, retiring in 2003 after 32 years of service. He thoroughly enjoyed his fireman family. He worked 30 years for Sears and then began a career of long haul trucking for Pride Transport, Central Trucking and Knight Transport. On October 15, 1983, Ed married the love of his life, Kam Bybee. They renewed their vows on June 29, 2009. He has three sons, Travis Sjostrom, Jason Sjostrom and Kade McRae.

Ed was a member of the LDS Church.

He enjoyed boating and camping. In 2006, Ed and Kam started spending the winters at their home in Yuma, Arizona. There they enjoyed family and friends, four-wheeling, swimming and soaking up the sun. He took great pride in his vehicles and was a complete workaholic.

Ed is survived by his wife, Kam, three sons, Travis, Jason, Kade, two grandchildren, Chance, Brynlee, one brother, Scott Sjostrom, two sisters, Utana Moore and Wendy Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Virginia, and a step-mother, whom he loved dearly, Ester Sjostrom.

The family would like to thank the McKay Dee Hospital ICU staff, Roy Fire Department, the Weber County officers and rescue for their kind and compassionate care of Ed.

Rest in peace, Big Ed.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 12 noon at the Providence River Heights Cemetery, 950 River Heights Drive.

The family will meet friends for a viewing on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
