Edwin "Ned" Howard Toponce

Edwin “Ned” Howard Toponce Edwin “Ned” Howard Toponce passed peacefully from this life on March 11, 2013, to begin the next step of his eternal journey. We will miss him terribly but are so excited for the many opportunities and experiences he is now having. Ned was born in South Ogden, Utah, 59 years ago. When he was only months old, his family moved to Logan, Utah where they lived for three years. After that time his family moved back to Washington Terrace where he lived the rest of his growing up years. Ned was married to Sharon Long and had three sons: Aaron, Tyler and Ryan, and one daughter, Kristi. They later divorced and Ned married the love of his life, Shirley Langfitt, in 1989. They were blessed with two sons of their own, TJ and Logan. Ned loved his family very much and cherished every second he could spend with them. He adored his grandchildren. Most importantly, Ned loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. He proclaimed it gladly to anyone he could. A huge part of Ned’s life was his work. He worked for 36 years at McKay-Dee Hospital in Radiology. He loved helping and serving others, which is his legacy he has left to his family. He also loved wood working. He turned on his lathe many beautiful pieces that now adorn various people’s mantles, tables and Christmas trees. Ned is survived by his wife, Shirley, his children, Aaron (Keri); Tyler (Heather); Ryan (Shae Marie), Kristi Thompson (Jordan), TJ and Logan; a brother, Rick Toponce (Arlette); and grandchildren: Jackie, Brinley, Jackson, Taylor; and various aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Cullen Toponce and Jacquelyn Shirlie Carnan Toponce. Ned will be missed by many. We all love him and will ever remember his love for life and family. He loved to laugh and we will miss that beautiful sound in our lives. We await the time when we can see each other again. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Oak Forest Chapel, 2250 E. 2200 No., Layton. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
