Edwin L. Wood
1925-2008
BOUNTIFUL – Edwin Lee Wood, age 83, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2008 from complications of Leukemia.
Edwin was born in Thatcher, Utah to Melvin J. Wood and Verna Watt Wood on March 6, 1925. He married Helen Bingham in the Logan Temple on September 22, 1950.
Edwin graduated from Bear River High School and Utah State University. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation, Shell Oil company, St. Regis/Wagner Bag and retired from the Physical Facilities Plant at the University of Utah after 24 years of service.
He loved his family and his friends as well as his garden, camping, boating, traveling, watching basketball, football, golf and tennis.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as financial clerk or executive secretary to eight Bishops and a Stake President and as secretary in three High Priest Group Leaderships. He served two service missions with his wife, the first for the Church Education System and the second at Welfare Square.
He is survived by his wife Helen, four sons Dennis (Karin), Blair (Cindy), Ron (Joni), Jeffrey (Natalie); 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother Vern (Eileen) and a sister Ann (Ralph) Udy. Preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Vicki and a brother Rulon.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Dr. Regina Klein and her staff in Bountiful and Layton for their loving care and kindness to Edwin.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Bountiful 5th Ward Chapel, 1000 N. 100 W. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 pm at the Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E and Sat. 9:45- 10:45 am at the church prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
