Edwin “Ted” Vaughn Kimber

Edwin “Ted” Vaughn Kimber, 77, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014, with his loving wife by his side.

He was born September 17, 1937 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Warren V. and Goldie Thorpe Kimber. He was raised in Ogden and attended Ogden City Schools. He lived in West Point for 53 years.

On December 23, 1955, Ted married his high school sweetheart, Dorotha in Ogden, Utah. They have enjoyed 58 years of marriage.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War, stationed in San Diego, California.

Ted was employed at Hill Air Force Base as a Computer Specialist. He fought forest fires with the Hot Shot Crew, in the ‘60s. For 29 years he worked for the Syracuse Fire Department, where he also served as Assistant Fire Chief.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a professional babysitter and extraordinary grandpa. Ted will be remembered as a quiet man.

Ted is survived by his devoted wife, Dorotha; three daughters, Beverly, West Haven; Terry (Gene), Sunset; Susan, Roy; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, many other children who lovingly called him grandpa; a sister, Carol (Harold) Bowers, Island Park, ID; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Norman Dabb, and son-in-law, Floyd Westover.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 26th at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
