Effie M. Dalton
CLINTON – Effie Margaret Stevens Dalton, 88, passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family.
Effie was born May 24, 1920 in Oakley, Utah, a daughter of Dean Byron and Bertha Laurette Davies Stevens. She was raised in Oakley graduating from South Summit High School.
Effie met the love of her life, Ormus George Dalton, at the Union Pacific Laundry where they were both employed. On Easter Sunday, March 24, 1940, Effie married Ormus in Oakley, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized on May 23, 1958 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Effie was Ormus’s “Best Pal” and companion during their life journey together.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled various callings throughout her life. She enjoyed her calling as a Temple worker.
Effie was a meticulous housekeeper and a generous, selfless, loving, caring, gracious, humorous and strong woman who always put others before herself.
Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, camping, fishing and being surrounded by her family.
She worked for American Food and Smith’s Food King Markets making many friends throughout her years of employment.
Surviving are her husband, Ormus, of Clinton; two sons, Larry George Dalton, Randy Guy (Carolyn) Dalton; daughter-in-law, Sandra Dalton; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Effie was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, three brothers, and two sons, Ormus Brent Dalton, Kenneth Earl Dalton, one granddaughter, Carolee Dalton and one great-granddaughter, Xanthe Dalton.
The family expresses special thanks to IHC Hospice, especially Vicki, for their loving care and support.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
