EILEEN M. BAKER
1928 – 2016
Eileen M. Baker passed away September 29, 2016 at her apartment surrounded by her loving family. Eileen was born June 2, 1928 in Springield, IL to Carl and Mary Meyers. She married Jim Q. Baker on May 10, 1952.
She is survived by one son and six daughters: Mary Jane Cassidy (Jim), Barbara Smith (Reid), Janice Folsom (Paul), Teresa Evans (Rick), Susie Carlisle (Mike), Jim Q. Baker, Jr., and Margaret Robertson (John). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Eileen was Woman of the Year at St. Olaf Parish on May 3, 2002. She was significantly involved in the Altar Society, Legion of Mary, sponsoring catechumens, teaching new converts, and helping out in the schools classroom for her children and grandchildren. She also assisted in fundraising, Casino Night, and many social functions. In addition to visiting the sick and elderly, she volunteered at the SLC Soup Kitchen. After her husband passed away, she continued to be a Eucharistic Minister and an active member of the Altar Society.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 5:30p.m. and a rosary will be held at 7:00p.m. at Lindquist Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E., Bountiful. The Mass of Christian burial (funeral service) will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 1793 S. Orchard Dr., Bountiful. Directly after the Mass, there will be a Celebration of Life in the MacNamara Center behind the church from 12:00 noon to 1:30p.m. Burial will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery at 1:30p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the St. Olaf Catholic Church at 1793 S. Orchard Drive, Bountiful in Eileen M. Baker’s name.
