Eileen L. Mertens

Eileen L. Mertens November 22, 1943 – September 11, 2009 OGDEN - Our beloved mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009 after a short fight with cancer at Ogden Regional Medical Center. Eileen was born on November 22, 1943, to Perry Winger and Lois Williena Hendershot. She is a graduate of Van Nuys High School, California Class of 1961. She married Michael Ray Mertens on June 24, 1966 and had three children with him. They were divorced after 7 years of marriage. She then relocated to Ogden, Utah in 1973 where she lived out the remainder of her life. Eileen never remarried but prided herself on raising three wonderful children on her own. She was a hard worker. She worked at Outsource Receivables Management for over 30 years as the Client and Data Entry Manager. She was always doing extra side jobs “with a smile” at home to help provide for her family. She taught all her kids to be independent and strong. We are eternally grateful to her for that. Eileen is survived by her son, Tim Mertens, her two daughters, Christine Mertens and Jennifer (Jay) Stutler, five grandchildren, Alyssa Williams, Mikaela Mertens, Jake Mertens, Samantha Stutler and Cooper Stutler, her mother, Lois Painter, brother, Ron Winger, and stepsisters, Anne M. Kirkman and Anita Thon - all of whom brought great joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Perry Winger. The family of Eileen wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Michael Wolman and the wonderful staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center who helped make her final days the most enjoyable and comfortable as possible. The family will honor her life in a private service on Sunday, September 27, 2009. We would like to thank everyone for keeping us in their thoughts and prayers.
