Elaine Carter Barton
February 19, 1953 ~ June 26, 2022
Elaine Carter Barton returned home to her Heavenly Parents on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the age of 69. Elaine was born to Ralph Shirley and Fern Porter Carter on February 19, 1953 in Ogden, UT. Elaine grew up as the sixth of nine children on the family farm in Porterville, UT. Her favorite thing growing up on the farm was taking care of the calves. She attended school K-12 in Morgan and graduated from Morgan High School. She also attended Weber State College.
Elaine married Robert Barton on March 20, 1976. While they later divorced in 2014, they remained best friends throughout it all. Elaine’s favorite thing in life was being a mother to two daughters and grandmother to her six grandchildren and her special bonus grandchild. Each of her children and grandchildren knew that Grandma loved them more than anything.
Elaine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many different callings in the Relief Society and Young Women’s Organizations. She also served in the baptistry at the Ogden Temple, and as a service missionary working with the special needs seminary program. Elaine loved everyone. She was a wonderful friend and always made those who knew her feel loved, listened to, and seen.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brandon Wintle, her doctor of many years and his Medical Assistant Shelley Pra for their care and compassion. We would also like to extend a special thanks to Intermountain Healthcare and Hospice and Nurses Lisa, Julie, Sunny, Emily, and Ranae. We also extend a thanks to the many C.N.A.’s who helped with Elaine’s care. A very special thanks to Dad from his daughters for all your selfless service to Mom these past few months, we couldn’t have done this without you.
Elaine is survived by her (ex)-husband, Robert; daughters, Amy (Aaron) Astle and Sarah (Jason) Matthews; her six grandchildren, Alex, Joel, Ella, Eliza, Lincoln, and Gwyneth. She is also survived by her eight siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents.
