Our strong, kind, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Elaine Jenson Cloward, 56, of Draper, UT passed away quietly Feb 7, 2023 from Metastatic Breast Cancer.
Elaine was a warrior who valiantly fought breast cancer, painful neuropathy, and heart failure but continued to have a bright smile on her face.
She was born in Kearns, Utah on December 19, 1966. Elaine was the sixth of seven children born to Mark Alexander Jenson and Myrna Loy Bay Jenson.
Elaine graduated from Kearns High School in 1985 where she was nominated as The Business Sterling Scholar. She continued to pursue her education by attending Ricks College and then graduating from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Education. Her love of learning continued as she attended Southern Utah University where she earned her master’s degree.
Elaine’s highest callings were those of being a mother and a teacher. With her energetic personality, along with her love of children, she excelled in both. She loved being a mother and was devoted to all of her children and grandchildren and each one knew they were deeply loved. Elaine’s greatest joy was spending time with each of them.
As a teacher of 20+ years, she was greatly loved by her students and their families. Elaine especially loved teaching Science and Math and knew how to make learning fun for her students. She was a bundle of energy in the classroom, and it was amazing to watch her creative teaching.
While attending a Singles Dance she met the love of her life, Max Cloward. They married on July 4, 2011. They were sealed for eternity in the Draper Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on November 26, 2016. They were together for almost 12 wonderful years until Elaine’s passing.
Elaine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings in Young Women and Primary where she always taught about love and acceptance. Her faithful spirit was always a shining example to those around her.
Elaine had many hobbies and talents that included scrapbooking with her Cropodiles, Witches Night Out at Gardner Village with her girls, camping and hiking with Max and the family, traveling, time at the beach, crafting, and flying in her husband’s airplane. She also loved spending time with her various special friend groups: Bunko, Bridge, Cropodiles, and her Gal Pals, especially up at the cabin. Her friends loved to tease her about her devotion to Diet Coke. If Elaine was there, her Diet Coke was by her side.
Elaine had so many gifts that she freely shared. The most outstanding one was her ability to make friends easily. Anyone that met Elaine was made to feel like they were her best friend. She made people feel important, cared for, and loved. In her sister Lori’s words, “She Lived Big and Loved Bigger.”
Elaine is survived by her sweet, devoted husband Max S Cloward, Sons: Justin Robson, Jake (Rachel) Robson, Skylar Robson, Nicholas (Angela) Cloward, Kasey (Sydnee) Cloward, and Joshua (Hope) Cloward; Daughters: Jennifer (Dayne) Fox, Stephanie (Phil) Moynihan, Kylee Robson, Mandi (Justin) Gardner, and Jaidin (Mitch) Burke, as well as 10 grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by her brothers, Terri (Cheri) Jenson, and CJ Jenson, and three sisters Rosalie (Don) Carter, Deloris (Doug) Giemlich, and Lori (Richard) Herrin,
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Bruce Jenson, and son, Kevin Robson.
Elaine lived a wonderful life! Her spontaneous nature, bubbly personality, and love for life will be missed by all those who love her dearly.
