Elaine C. Garner
OGDEN – Elaine Clark Garner, 82, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at her home in Ogden.
She was born April 19, 1927 in Liberty, Utah, a daughter of Walter Andrew and Zenna Elizabeth Hill Clark. She lived in Liberty until she was nine and then moved to Ogden with her family where she lived for the remainder of her life.
On March 12, 1949, Elaine married Wayne Gaisford Garner in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Wayne preceded her in death on January 30, 2006.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed working with the youth and served as a ward librarian for many years.
She retired from Hill Air Force Base following many years of service.
Elaine loved reading, traveling, needlework projects and most of all, spending time with her family.
Surviving are four sons and five daughters, Brent (Kathryn) Garner, Clinton; Phillip Garner, Ogden; Craig (Shelly) Garner, North Ogden; Von (Jennie) Garner, Kaysville; Suanne (Chuck) Andersen, Clearfield; Daleen Garner, Salt Lake City; Barbara (Steve) Shattuck, Nampa, ID; Denise (Ross) Hartenbower, Brighton, CO; Kathleen (Kris) Smedley, Montpelier, ID; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and two sisters, Elwood (Joyce) Clark, Mary Brown, and Selma (Alma) Kreipl.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Old Post Ward Chapel, 5191 Old Post Road in Ogden.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
