Elaine Durrant Jenkins
Elaine Durrant Jenkins born March 17, 1925 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of George Elmo and Eva May Harr Durrant, passed away peacefully in her sleep December 6, 2015 in Kaysville, Utah. She was the oldest of three children. She grew up in Los Angeles where she went to high school and worked. She loved being a mother and serving others and was a talented artist.
The result of a blind date and a long distance courtship she married the love of her life, her handsome cowboy, Dean Bedford Jenkins in the Saint George LDS Temple. After their marriage, Dean took Elaine back to his hometown of Freedom, WY; to live there she gave up the luxurious city life of indoor plumbing and running water for an outhouse and carrying water for two miles in order to work and raise a family. Elaine has always been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many callings. She and Dean served a full-time mission at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City and were ordinance workers in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for many years. For the past year and half she has crocheted many alter cloths in LDS Temples throughout the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters and her husband.
She is the mother of six children: Delaine Jenkins, Lander, Wyoming; Melaine Eldredge (Rick), Helena, Montana; Maridene Wiberg (Scott), Layton, Utah; Sirena Higgs (Tom), Kaysville, Utah; Nolan Jenkins (Trudy), Lehi, Utah; Wynn Jenkins (Loretta), North Logan, Utah; grandmother of 27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
