Elaine H. Morin
OGDEN – Elaine Horne Liddell Morin, our beloved mother, sister, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born December 12, 1921 in Oakley, Idaho, the daughter of Mary Toolson and Aaron Smith Horne. She was educated in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School in 1940 and Weber State College in 1942.
Elaine married Dr. Blair Liddell in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1962. She married Claude O. Morin in 1973.
She worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 10 years and was a member of the Pine Tree Ladies Club. She also belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Ogden where she was a member of the Ladies Book Club.
Elaine spent many of her retired years traveling the world and throughout the United States. She was admired for her intelligence, was extremely well read and especially loved mysteries and cook books. For her, wealth was being able to walk into a book store, choose as many titles as she wanted, and not worry about the cost. She was a gifted cook and happiest in her kitchen preparing meals for her family. She enjoyed looking at and cutting fresh flowers from their beautiful rose garden, which they were so proud of. Her other talents included knitting, sewing, playing bridge, and quilting. Elaine was a deeply caring, kind and patient woman. She treasured time at the family cabin where she was fond of family games, the beauty of nature and watching the hummingbirds. She demonstrated remarkable strength and grace during trying times. She found her greatest joy spending time with her family. She was an angel who blessed many lives, and will be truly missed. “Remember I loved you all very much”.
Surviving are her husband, Claude, of Ogden; two sons and one daughter, Gary Liddell, and Scott (Skuntala) Liddell, both of Ogden; Kathy Bolte, Salt Lake City; six grandchildren, Jay and Breanne Liddell, Alan and Erin Liddell and Ben and Lauren Bolte, and one great-grandchild, Marcus Rivera.
Also surviving is one sister, Helen Farr, Ogden; and Elaine’s unofficially adopted children, Laurie Sonneborn and Bob Bolte.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband.
The family wishes to thank Mary, Deborah, and Diane for the loving care they provided to Elaine.
