Elaine Hansen Romer
Elaine Hansen Romer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, 86, passed away on April 12, 2012 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT.
Elaine was born on June 15, 1925 in Rexburg, ID to Annie Sarah and Ivan Apollo Hansen. She graduated from Box Elder High School and attended Utah State University in Logan. She married Ray Romer in the Salt Lake Temple on February 9, 1945. They moved to Los Angeles so Elaine could continue her pursuit of a career in music. She was offered a seven-year movie contract with Columbia Studios, which she declined. After several years they moved to Idaho Falls where they began their family. Ray and Elaine moved to San Leandro, CA in 1953 and lived there until 1989 when Ray retired. They then moved to Layton.
Many enjoyed Elaine''s love of music as she sang for the Berkeley Opera Company and the El-Do-Mar Trio. Elaine sang at temple dedications, church-building dedications and for various fund-raising activities throughout ID, CA, UT and HI. She shared her God-given talent with friends, family and church members.
Elaine enjoyed crocheting, counted cross-stitch, gardening and reading. Her loved ones were the recipients of her talents with beautiful afghans, cross-stitch pictures and needle-point pillows.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Ray, of Layton, UT, sons Craig (Linda), Paul (Patricia), Scott, her sister Cherie (Kent) Wilcox, 17 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by her sisters Pauline and Betty and her brother Tom.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Ridgecrest Ward, 2375 E. 3225 N., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
