Elaine Sprouse

Our beloved mother, grandmother, Elaine Sprouse passed away peacefully on August 27, 2016 at the age of 80.

Elaine was born March 8, 1936 in Roosevelt, Utah to Lawrence and Evelyn Sprouse.  Elaine attended the Utah School for the Deaf in Ogden.

She met and married Gerald “Jerry” Henry Deelstra.  They were later divorced.

Elaine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission in the family history building in Salt Lake City.  She loved genealogy and doing the Lords work. She attended the Deaf Branch in South Ogden and had many friends there.

She is survived by a daughter JoAnn Raya (Raul), three sons, Ted Deelstra (Eileen), Sam Deelstra (Laurie) and Nick Deelstra.  She adored all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and lit up when they walked into her room.  She was especially close to her granddaughter, Jessica Deelstra who helped take care of her and visited her almost daily.

The family would like to thank the staff at Family Tree in West Point and Access Home Health for their loving and tender care.

Love you Mom!  You will be missed.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
