Eldon Wayne Burnett
SOUTH OGDEN a" Eldon Wayne Burnett, 76, was suddenly taken away from us on Thursday, September 18, 2008.
He was born in Ogden, Utah, the oldest son of Omer and VaNeta Burnett. Eldon attended Ogden High School and Weber College.
He married Pauline Chase on March 28, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Eldon worked at O.U.R. & D. and Union Pacific Railroads and retired from Honeywell Corp. Because of his strong work ethic, he continued to work after retirement and had just completed five years with Securitas Services.
He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints South Ogden 8th Ward and served in numerous callings in his home wards. Recently he served in the Sunday School Presidency for eight years. As a young man he enjoyed working with the youth and the Scouting Program.
Eldon is survived by his wife and children; Gayle (Richard) Sandberg, Colorado Springs, CO; Dianne (Paul) Menlove, American Fork, UT; Jim (Nora K.) Burnett, Pleasant Grove, UT; Sherri (Greg) Collins, Corona, CA; Sandra (Roger) Bluhm, Olathe, KS; Celia Burnett, Ogden, UT; Daniel (C.J.) Burnett, Sierra Vista, AZ; 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers, Reed (Carole) Burnett, Floyd (Carole) Burnett, and two sisters, Joyce (Robert) Rasmussen, and Linda Tuttle.
Eldon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 22, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the South Ogden 8th Ward Chapel, 720 Nancy Dr.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Ward Chapel 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Interment, Eden Cemetery.
