Eldon Ray Lechtenberg Together Again

MOUNTAIN GREEN a€" Our beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, Eldon R. Lechtenberg passed away Sunday July 22, 2007, at Manor Care Center at the age of 94 wonderful years. Eldon was born February 6, 1913 in Lund, Idaho to Delia Crockett and Peter Paul Lechtenberg. Eldon attended high school in Bancroft, Idaho and finished in Pocatello, Idaho from 1935 to 1938. Eldon served an LDS mission to the Northern States. In 1941 he joined the US Navy and was stationed at Guadalcanal serving the JVJ-12 unit until the war ended. Eldon worked many jobs including D&RG Railroad, US Navy Base and the Defense Mapping Agency where he retired with 37 years of service. Eldon also drove for Hertz for 15 years.

Eldon wed Norma Skanchy July 23, 1947, in the Logan LDS Temple. Eldon and Norma lived in Salt Lake City for one year and then moved to Clearfield, UT in 1948 where they raised their four children. Eldon was a member of the Clearfield 3rd Ward where he held numerous positions in the ward. After retirement Eldon and Norma spent 15 years as Ordinance workers at the Ogden LDS Temple.

Eldon''s greatest joy in life was traveling and family activities. Eldon is survived by one daughter, Vicki (Robert) Doman, Mountain Green; Ray (RaNae) Lechtenberg, Roy; Gary (Joan) Lechtenberg, Boise, ID; Paul (Melanie) Lechtenberg; Clearfield, 18 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Eldon was preceeded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers, four sisters and one grandson.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff at Manor Care, Chancellor Gardens and the members of the Clearfield 3rd Ward.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 3rd Ward, 231 East 300 North. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
