Eldon Emmett Sill
LAYTON – Eldon Emmett Sill, 87, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Layton.
He was born March 21, 1920 in Layton, Utah the son of Charles and Mary Ettie Nalder Sill.
Eldon graduated from Davis High School and attended Weber State College for two years.
Eldon married Marie McEntire on September 29, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was a civil service employee for 32 years where he finished his employment as a contract/procurement negotiator at HAFB.
He served a LDS Mission to the New England States Mission and held numerous positions in the LDS Church including Bishop of the Layton 6th Ward where he touched many lives.
He served on the Laytona Town Board and was Director and Secretary Treasurer of the Sill and Adams Ditch Co. for 51 years.
Eldon enjoyed traveling but his passion was farming.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years Marie Sill, three sons, Stephen M. (Vorelle) Sill, Layton; Gregory E. (Carmen) Sill, Fremont, CA; Douglas M. (Barbara) Sill, Layton; three daughters, Diatra S. (Frank) Wilko, Layton; Claudine S. (Lanny) Rasmussen, Fish Haven, ID; Teresa S. Christison, Cary, NC; 24 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Leona Sill, Reta M. McGongile, Vera K. Holmes, brother, Golden C. Sill, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Layton 6th Ward, 1402 No. Fort Lane. Friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
