Eldon W. Stoddard passed away peacefully on December 6, 2012 with his wife of 64 years and loyal companion, his dog Quincey, by his side. He was born March 6, 1927 in Morgan, Utah, the son of Joseph Frederick and Margorie Wiggill Stoddard.
He was reared and educated in SLC, Utah, attended West High then enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 8, 1944. He married Erma Faye Eliason on June 26, 1948 in Logan, Utah.
He retired from Hill AFB after 42 years as Chief of Quality Control and Storage. His favorite job was grounds keeper at Valley View Golf Course for approximately 20 years. He held many positions in the FOE and was a member of the LDS Church.
He loved working in his yard, detailing cars, traveling, and being with his family.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Faye, two daughters: Karen Gee, Layton, UT; Lori (Pat) Patterson, Marriott/Slaterville, UT; one son Keith (Julie) Stoddard, Layton, UT; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving are two brothers and five sisters: Bert (Reyna) Wheaton, Lonnie (Barbara) Wheaton, Barbara Murray, Arva Jean (David) Higgs, Glenna Busike, Johnny Skinner, Sally (Mike) Pastoral.
Preceded in death by his parents, son Eldon, daughter Nyla, grandson Bret Stoddard, son-in-law Ernie Gee; three sisters: Sherrie Wheaton, Wanda Nichols, and Emma Lee Jaques.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
