Eleanor Hill Jenkins

Eleanor Hill Jenkins, 85, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home.

She was born August 31, 1928 in Ogden, Utah, the second child of H. Vernon Hill and Vallecita Johansen Hill. Eleanor attended Ogden City Schools and was a graduate of Ogden High School.

On February 4, 1949, Eleanor married Merrill Jenkins in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised six children. She was a great support to her husband and children. Her husband, Merrill, preceded her in death.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in the Relief Society Presidency, as a Primary teacher and chorister, and as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple.

Eleanor was known for her hard work and dedication. She was employed by the Egyptian Theater, George A. Lowe Company, Cream O’ Weber Dairy, First Security Bank, and Dean Foods. She also served as a volunteer at McKay-Dee Hospital.

She loved Weber State University Sports. She was active in the Democratic Party. She had a beautiful voice, loved music and was an accomplished cook and seamstress. She was a member and past president of the Aglaia Club of Ogden.

Eleanor leaves behind a legacy of 23 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren soon to be born. She is also survived by her children, LaFray (Ron) Kelley, Plain City; Jenny (Jerry) Garrett, Plain City; Reed (Marina) Jenkins, Ogden; Clark (Tana) Jenkins, Plain City; Lorna (Phillip) Meyer, Plain City; Merilyn (Jeffrey) Haslam, South Ogden; one sister, Valanne (Aaron Vinn) Farr; and brother-in-law, Mark Fuller. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Marlin Hill and her sister, Reneẻ Fuller.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her care givers at Advocate Hospice; Ellie, Annette, Leesa, Lauren, Mike, Justin and Shawnee. Also a special thanks to Mona who valiantly served our Mother and never left her side the last few months of her life.

Funeral services will be held Thursday May 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Plain City 4th Ward Chapel, 2235 North 4350 West. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Plain City Cemetery.
