Elese McGavock

Elese Doxey McGavock, 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Elese was a native of Ogden, Utah. She is the daughter of Dr. Willard R. and Mary Campbell Doxey. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1944. She earned her associate degree from Weber State in General Education in 1946. She went on to graduate from BYU with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in sociology.
She married James Robert McGavock. They had one daughter, Mary Jean McGavock (she drowned in the Snake River in a rafting accident). James passed away on July 4, 2004.
She taught school (kindergarten) for 39 years. She retired in 1987. Each child has been a flower in her bouquet of life.
Elese is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many positions.
Elese is survived by her sister, Olive Jane Doxey; nieces and nephews, Judy Lee, Scott (Linda) Lee, Matthew (Dru) Doxey, Chris Doxey, Shawn (Michelle) Doxey, and Will Doxey; and a special friend, Marcia (Jeff deceased) Young. She is now reunited with her husband, daughter, parents, brother, and many other loved ones who have gone before.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
