Elisabeth Kolen Van Aarle

Elisabeth H. Van Aarle passed away Sunday, October 14th 2007 at West Haven, Utah. Mom was born May 1st 1921 in Tilburg, Netherlands.

Mom was the 2nd of 17 children. She accepted the responsibility of helping to raise her younger siblings during and after the tumultuous war years. She was a skilled seamstress and worked in a textile mill weaving fabrics. Mom and Dad had the courage to immigrate with their young family to Canada and after two years moved to Utah where they planted their roots, learned a new language, and built successful lives. She attended Weber State College Aircraft Training School and eventually repaired electronic equipment at Hill Air Force Base.

Mom was generous and devoted to her family: Ben Van Aarle, Pete (Patti) Van Aarle, Jackie (Jim) Morgan, twelve grandchildren, Lori, Jason, Brandi, Jared, Patrick, Callie, Crystal, Jordan, Vickie, Stephanie, Jim, and Chris. Mom was also blessed with twelve great grandchildren, Tayrn, Jesse, Taylor, Gabby, Drew, Hayden, Adri, Connor, Skyler, Bailey, Jaylie and Celeste. Mom enjoyed playing board and card games with her grandchildren.

Wonderful memories include holiday celebrations such as "Sinterklaus" with traditional Dutch food-especially croquettes. Mom was preceded in death by her husband Joe, granddaughter Lori, her parents, three sisters, and seven brothers. Mom now joins Dad who has been patiently waiting thirteen years for a good home cooked meal.
