Elizabeth Masters Dallof

OGDEN - Elizabeth "Bette" Masters Dallof peacefully slipped away during the early morning hours of Friday, January 23, 2009 in her children''s loving arms. She was born October 4, 1919 to William and Sadie Masters, the second of five children. She married William Dallof on May 22, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died on June 20, 1981. While she waited to be reunited with him, she became a strong and independent woman.

She was educated in the Ogden City Schools and was a member of the last class graduating from the old Ogden High School. Her beautiful handwriting won her many awards.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her lifetime, she held many positions including Stake Primary President, Ward Primary President, and Primary Teacher.

Elizabeth was raised during the Depression and because of this demonstrated an outstanding work ethic. She never had to apply for a job or ask for a raise or promotion. These were always offered. She was employed at the Pilot as a teenager, the famous Ross and Jack''s Cafe as a cashier, and the Weber County Library. She began there as a temporary employee and retired as a Department Head. She embraced great changes, including one of the first computerized library systems.

Elizabeth was very talented in sewing children''s clothing. For many years, she constructed almost all of her daughter''s dresses. She also sewed numerous dresses for girls who were in need. Because of her Dutch ancestry, she took great pride in a clean house. Her windows always sparkled and she was often asked for her secret cleaning solution. She developed a green thumb and single handedly maintained a beautiful yard with many flowers and vegetables.

She leaves behind two children, Judith (Dean) Kendall and David (Joan) Dallof; four grandchildren Katie (Phillip) Hudman, Michael (Stephanie) Kendall, Sarah Dallof, and Melissa Dallof. She has two great grandchildren, Samantha and Nathan. All the grandchildren and greats will miss their "Goo Bette" and "Guru."

She is also survived by two siblings, William (Helen) Masters and LaVon Grow and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and her husband.

Elizabeth experienced life threatening illnesses more than once in her life. She was privileged to be cared for by outstanding physicians. Dr. Wendell Thompson saved her life with the newly discovered penicillin; Dr. Drew Peterson kept her heart beating but with a rhythm of its own; and Dr. Harry Senekjian tenderly and skillfully guided her through her difficult health problems. Her family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to him. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 28 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Tuesday, January 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Weber County Development Fund, 2464 Jefferson Avenue Ogden, UT 84401, in memory of Bette.
