Elizabeth W. Gibson, 91, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017, surrounded by family. She was born on December 4, 1925, second daughter of Eldred L. and Athalia Wheatley Wight. She spent her early years in Brigham City, Logan, and Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School in 1943.

On July 31, 1946, she married Carlisle F. Gibson in the Logan LDS Temple.

During World War II, she worked at the Ogden Arsenal. She was also employed with General Mills Corporation for over 25 years. She was a skilled typist and stenographer.

She lead a devoted life of service fulfilling many ward and stake callings for the LDS Church. She and Carlisle served in the Los Angeles California Mission. She supported her children and grandchildren in their activities.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Carla (Gene – deceased) Olcott, North Ogden, UT; Catherine (Ray) Anderson, Salina, UT; Evan (Alaina) Gibson, North Ogden, UT; Gayle (Jerry) Pence, River Heights, UT; and Kaye (Jim) Clemens, Okinawa, Japan. She was blessed with 24 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her sisters are Lorraine Hales of Ogden, UT, and Charlene Smith of Brigham City, UT.

She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Carlisle; her parents, and sisters, Marion Demler and Janet Taylor.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 6th Ward, 770 East 2100 North.  Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, West Weber Cemetery.

The family expresses their deep appreciation to Encompass Home Health Care and Hospice for their loving care of our mother. We also thank Jen, who has come to Elizabeth’s home for many years to style her hair.
